Location Description
Hopkins, MN is home to our Michael Foods, Inc. corporate headquarters. Hopkins is located 7 miles west of Minneapolis, boasting natural surroundings in a suburban environment that also provides quick access to major travel ways and local restaurants that give our community a distinct character. Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY :
This internship position combines financial stewardship with operational excellence, with a focus on analyzing the financial impact of Distribution policies resulting in fees. Insights gained from the analysis will be shared with cross-functional partners with the goal of delivering both financial and operational improvement. This is a highly visible topic across the organization and within the Executive team. The experience will include:
Leading analysis of financial transaction data supporting Distribution fees claims to identify key drivers and trends, including geographic-specific trends, policy and/or customer-specific trends, dollar and volume trends, etc. Will prepare presentations and share insights with cross-functional partners and Sr Leaders.
Partner with key Leaders within Sales, Supply Chain Operations, Customer Service, and Finance Teams to determine additional analysis and reporting needs. May partner with IT to develop new reports.
Will attend monthly cross-functional meetings to understand action plans, progress against goals (financial and operational), and develop new strategies and actions. May support reporting and/or project management of deliverables as needed.
Will participate in analyzing fee trends and volume growth to develop the financial Budget.
Participate in analyzing the monthly distribution fees accrual and reconciliation of actual results, at a customer and policy level.
Utilize problem-solving skills and enhance ability to partner across an organization to deliver operational and financial improvements.
Develop your network by engaging with employees and interns from across various functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern will learn the importance of cross-functional collaboration and the problem-solving skills needed to deliver both operational and financial improvement. The person will gain exposure to key finance responsibilities, including transaction processing, month-end accruals, budgeting, and ad-hoc analysis and insights development. In addition, the intern will gain a deeper understanding of Finance's role beyond key routines; it's critical for Finance to understand the details of Customers Programs and Operations Team to connect them to financial results and provide actionable insights.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Accounting or Finance
Intermediate level proficiency using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
