Job Title: Warehouse Estimator
Job Description
This role focuses on receiving and processing requests for quotes, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and developing accurate cost estimates for parts and assemblies. You will collaborate closely with sales, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal manufacturing teams to verify bills of material, confirm part details, and ensure that quotes reflect realistic pricing and lead times. The position combines technical understanding of drawings and components with strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Receive and review requests for quotes from customers and sales personnel in a timely and accurate manner.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand product requirements and scope of work.
Determine whether the requirement involves a new part, a rebuild, or a revision change and document this clearly.
Verify the bill of material (BOM) against part drawings and prints, ensuring all components are correctly listed and aligned with customer requirements.
Analyze data related to materials, components, and processes that may affect overall cost and lead time.
Confirm and document any changes to customer or project requirements before finalizing quotes.
Research and source materials, components, and services from suppliers and subcontractors to support accurate quotations.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best possible pricing and terms for quoted items.
Check and verify tolerances on drawings and specifications to ensure feasibility and compliance with manufacturing capabilities.
Verify manufacturer component part numbers and ensure they match the specified requirements and BOM.
Determine required part quantities and gather information on availability, lead times, and pricing from suppliers.
Estimate assembly time by consulting with manufacturing and scheduling teams to ensure realistic completion timelines.
Compile all relevant cost, material, and timing information and provide complete quote packages to sales personnel.
Maintain organized files and records of quotes, BOMs, supplier information, and related documentation.
Communicate clearly with customers, clients, sales, and other employees to explain quotes, clarify requirements, and resolve questions.
Apply mathematical and analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions related to costing and quoting.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of bills of material (BOM), including verification of components and structure.
Experience working with purchase orders and quoting parts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Ability to verify part numbers and tolerances accurately against drawings and manufacturer documentation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for organizing, analyzing, and presenting quote and cost data.
Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to work with statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, and ratios.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw logical conclusions in a technical @context.
Effective verbal communication skills to explain information and interact with customers, clients, and coworkers.
Ability to maintain organized file information for quotes, BOMs, and related documentation.
Capability to research, source, and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or custom cable and wiring environment.
Familiarity with component-level manufacturing for government-related or custom products.
Comfort working in a small, close-knit team where cross-functional collaboration is common.
Attention to detail when checking tolerances, part numbers, and BOM accuracy.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple quote requests and deadlines.

Work Environment
The work environment is a small custom cable and wiring manufacturing facility with approximately 30 employees and a family-owned, close-knit culture. The dress code is manufacturing casual, with closed-toe shoes required for safety. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional availability needed on weekdays and Saturdays. The company primarily produces custom products, including those for government-related applications, and operates in a hands-on, collaborative setting where coordination with manufacturing, scheduling, and sales teams is part of daily work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Temecula, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.50/hr.
