This Electrical Engineer role focuses on designing building electrical systems for advanced technology, industrial, and life sciences facilities. You will perform engineering studies of power and low-voltage systems, develop designs ranging from simple to highly complex, and provide technical guidance and recommendations for system upgrades and corrections. The position offers direct involvement with key project stakeholders, opportunities to work on a wide variety of challenging projects, and strong support for professional growth and licensure.
Responsibilities
Design building electrical systems for advanced technology, industrial, and life sciences facilities.
Perform engineering studies of power and low-voltage systems to survey existing conditions, evaluate system capacities, and recommend corrections and upgrades.
Develop electrical system designs ranging from simple to complex, including power, lighting, and distribution systems.
Create designs for heat trace systems and electrical equipment installations.
Conduct short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, and overcurrent protective device coordination to support safety and reliability.
Review and evaluate power quality and reliability for new and existing systems.
Design low-voltage systems, including instrumentation and controls, telecommunications, life safety, and security systems.
Coordinate closely with other electrical engineers and multidisciplinary engineering team members to integrate designs across disciplines.
Interface directly with customers in design review meetings and provide engineering consultations and technical guidance.
Prepare clear and detailed technical writing, including specifications, sequences of operation, testing documents, and engineering reports.
Apply a thorough understanding of NEC requirements to ensure code-compliant designs, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design, and separation of Class 1/2/3 wiring.
Lead or support project tasks as needed, demonstrating the ability to both guide and collaborate within the team.
Maintain high levels of organization, follow-through, and responsibility to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Engage in continuous learning and professional development related to engineering and construction practices.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
10+ years of experience as an independent electrical designer or engineer.
Thorough understanding of basic NEC requirements, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design, and separation of Class 1/2/3 wiring.
Proficiency in designing power, lighting, and distribution systems for buildings and industrial facilities.
Experience performing power and low-voltage system studies, including capacity evaluations and upgrade recommendations.
Ability to perform or interpret short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, and overcurrent protective device coordination.
Experience with low-voltage system design, including instrumentation and controls, telecommunications, life safety, and security systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, analysis, and communication.
Strong technical writing skills for specifications, sequences of operation, testing documents, and engineering reports.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player.
Ability to both lead and follow, depending on project needs and team structure.
High level of organization, responsibility, and follow-through to manage tasks and deadlines.
Dedication, commitment, and a results-oriented mindset.
Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, particularly in engineering and construction @contexts.
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain PE registration within six months of starting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation.
Experience with Revit for building information modeling and coordination.
Familiarity with electrical system modeling software such as SKM or EasyPower.
Experience with energy analysis and evaluation of electrical system efficiency.
Background in facilities-related electrical design and schematic design.
Interest in professional growth, including pursuing professional licensure and continuing education.
Willingness to share past work or volunteer experience, including non-engineering roles, that demonstrate responsibility, teamwork, or leadership.
Desire to participate in learning opportunities such as seminars, training sessions, and professional development programs.

You will work primarily in an office environment, with occasional visits to client sites to review existing conditions and support project implementation. The team consists of approximately 90 staff members, with offices in Beaverton, Oregon and Tempe, Arizona, and serves clients who are leaders in advanced technology and industrial production. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $145000.00/hr.
