Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

This role operates a bead-blasting machine that removes excess debris from metal components after they have gone through painting and coating processes. You will load and unload parts, interact with computer-controlled machinery, and perform repetitive tasks while standing for the entire shift and lifting 30-50 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Operate a bead-blasting machine to remove excess debris from painted and coated metal components.

Load and unload metal parts onto and from the bead-blasting machine safely and efficiently.

Interact with computer-controlled machines, including entering basic information and following on-screen instructions.

Stand for the entire shift while performing repetitive production and machine operation tasks.

Lift and move items weighing between 30-50 lbs repetitively throughout the shift.

Follow basic work instructions and production guidelines accurately and consistently.

Monitor equipment during operation and report any issues or irregularities to the appropriate personnel.

Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.

Support general production activities as needed, including assisting with loading, unloading, and handling materials.

Essential Skills

Experience in general production or manufacturing environments.

Experience with machine operation or production machinery.

Ability to load and unload materials safely and efficiently.

Ability to perform heavy lifting of 30-50 lbs repetitively.

Comfort working in a tedious, repetitive role while maintaining focus and accuracy.

Ability to work with computers and interact with computer-controlled machines.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.

Ability to read and follow basic work instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience in metal finishing, plating, or coating environments is helpful.

Comfort working in an industrial setting with varying temperatures.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent quality.

Reliability and strong work ethic, including showing up on time and ready to work each shift.

Willingness to learn and follow established safety and operating procedures.

Work Environment

You will work in a metal plating facility with approximately 100 employees across three plants, focused on plating and coating metal parts for a variety of customers. This is an industrial environment with production machinery and bead-blasting equipment. Temperatures can be warm in the summer and cold in some departments during the winter, so you should be comfortable working in varying climate conditions. The role is fully on-site and requires standing for the entire shift, frequent lifting of 30-50 lbs, and regular interaction with computer-controlled machines in a production setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.65 - $21.65/hr.
