Medical Assistant (MA) - Geriatrics

Description:

Medical Assistant - Geriatric Primary Care Clinic

Medical Assistants work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. MAs are expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

What you will do:

Room set up and patient preparation

Taking vitals (Manual & Electronic)

Perform EKG

Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.

Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)

Pharmacology

Administrative duties

May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments

What you will need:

Education- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.

Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)American Medical Technologists (RMA)National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

Related Experience- Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills. Preferred: New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience caring for older adults or in a geriatric setting

Strong interpersonal skills and compassion for aging populations

Ability to work with patients who may have cognitive, sensory, or mobility impairments

Excellent communication and teamwork skills
