Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Job Description
This role supports a Navy acoustic sensor program focused on advancing acoustic sensor processing capabilities within submarine systems. You will design, automate, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and software delivery workflows for signal processing applications, sensor data pipelines, and mission-critical software systems. The position suits a hands-on DevOps engineer with strong experience in CI/CD, Linux, automation, and secure software delivery in complex environments.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support software build, integration, automated testing, and deployment across multiple environments.
Automate and streamline software delivery workflows for acoustic processing and sensor-related applications to improve speed, reliability, and consistency.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling using Bash and Python to support build, test, deployment, and operational tasks.
Support integration of containerized components into broader software delivery pipelines, enabling scalable and modular deployment architectures.
Troubleshoot and resolve build failures, deployment issues, and integration challenges across Linux-based environments.
Collaborate closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and integration teams to enable efficient and reliable capability delivery.
Continuously improve pipeline performance, reliability, observability, and repeatability using DevOps best practices.
Support secure software delivery practices aligned with DevSecOps principles, including hardened pipelines and controlled promotion of changes.
Assist in managing dependencies and integration across a large-scale, distributed software ecosystem.
Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of automated testing within CI/CD workflows to enhance software quality and stability.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
5+ years of experience in DevSecOps, CI/CD engineering, or software delivery automation.
Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
Strong scripting experience in Bash and Python for automation and tooling.
Hands-on experience working in Linux-based environments for development, integration, and operations.
Solid understanding of software development workflows and the full software development lifecycle.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving complex integration and deployment issues in distributed systems.
Active Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Kubernetes and container-based deployment environments.
Experience with Go or C++ software development, with strong preference for candidates who have contributed to production systems.
Experience supporting defense-related programs, particularly those involving submarine platforms or sensor systems.
Experience implementing secure DevSecOps practices in classified or highly regulated environments.
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working in or supporting cloud environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and integration teams in a complex program setting.
Work Environment
You will work in a highly technical, mission-focused environment that supports Navy acoustic sensor and submarine systems. The role centers on Linux-based development and integration environments, CI/CD platforms, containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, and scripting with Bash and Python. You will collaborate closely with software, systems, and integration engineers, often working with large-scale, distributed systems and secure, classified environments. The position typically follows standard full-time hours, with flexibility as needed to support critical milestones, integration events, and issue resolution. Work is primarily performed in an engineering office and laboratory setting with secure computing resources, controlled network environments, and structured processes that emphasize security, reliability, and rigorous testing. A professional appearance appropriate for an engineering and defense-focused setting is expected.
