This announcement will be used to fill one (1) current part-time Registered Nurse Senior vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay. This position is designated as part-time and day shift. The day shift is 7:00am to 3:30pm.
The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per two-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
This position will lead the education program at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay, which includes facilitating new employee orientation, providing ongoing continuing education for staff, and overseeing clinical education programs that support recruitment, retention, and broader healthcare initiatives. It is instrumental in ensuring that the Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay delivers effective orientation and in-service continuing education programs for all staff.
Additionally, this position will support the nursing department by assisting in resident care-assessing needs, implementing care plans and routines, and promoting the social and emotional well-being of residents.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing or the ability to be licensed in Minnesotaby the date of hire.
Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in long-term care or other healthcare environment such as a hospital, clinic,home health, hospice, or other senior living setting.
Advanced knowledge of skilled nursing with the ability to mentor and educate staff on how to provide effective resident centerednursing care, follow policies and procedures and which decisions can be made within each scope of nursing and certification.
Knowledge of adult learning, training methods, and measurement of learning or understanding including needs assessment,instructional design, and evaluation of successful learning.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Associationor the American Red Cross or ability to be certified by date of hire.
Computer skills sufficient to compete electronic charting, preferably in PointClickCare
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing resident care, developing care plans, and coordinating care as well as educating staff and residents
Experience using technology, equipment, devices, and/or other facilitation tools related to nursing education/training
Three or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care or other senior healthcare environment
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing or related degree program
Experience leading or supervising nursing staff
Strong interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to provide effective nursing education to individual employees and groups in classroom, one-on-one, and online training by using technology, equipment, devices, and other facilitation tools
Able to describe how competency is measured following an educational event and the system currently used to archive this information

This position requires successful completion of the following:
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
