This posting will be used to fill one current full-time vacancy at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Silver Bay. This position is designated as full-time and day shift. The day shift is 6:45am to 3:15pm. The position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
This position, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, performs staff scheduling of the nursing unit and other units as assigned and provides Nursing Administration support. The position independently administers staff scheduling and work assignments within the parameters of the collective bargaining contracts and plans, as well as any State and Federal regulations. The incumbent acts as a liaison between the staff and the direct supervisor by fielding questions, concerns and issues and providing resolution to the extent possible.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Provide clerical support to Nursing Management and Scheduling offices.
Generate the production of accurate Nursing employee schedules that provides adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of the agency.
Process employee schedule requests.
Document employee attendance leave requests and overtime by making changes in Scheduling software and communicating changes with nursing supervisors.
Document changes to employee assignments in Scheduling software as directed by nursing management.

Minimum Qualifications
Skill in:
Keyboarding/typing and word processing, using Microsoft or similar software, to produce forms, reports and general correspondence.
Using spreadsheet software applications, such as Microsoft Excel sufficient to produce and maintain reports on nursing activity and employee data.
Database management sufficient to enter, maintain, update, and retrieve information from a staffing/scheduling software.
Customer service (in person, on the phone and through email and other written correspondence) sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate scheduling and staffing level information to employees and supervisors/managers.
Communication sufficient to effectively communicate with employees and supervisors/managers regarding nursing schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience staffing and scheduling employees.
Experience using an electronic scheduling/staffing software.
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.

This position requires successful completion of the following:
A Minnesota Department of Human services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
