As Traffic Safety Program Coordinator in the State Program Administrator Principal classification, you will oversee state and community highway safety program-planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating federally and state-funded traffic safety initiatives with a primary focus on supporting the Advisory Council on Traffic Safety. You will draft and manage RFPs, grants, contracts, and interagency agreements; administer budgets up to $3 million; and conduct performance reviews and audits to ensure compliance with NHTSA guidelines and state policies. In addition, you will research emerging traffic safety issues, develop data-driven strategies, provide technical assistance to grantees, and foster collaborative partnerships among state agencies, law enforcement, public health entities, and citizen advocacy groups. You'll prepare briefs, testify on program objectives, and shape policy recommendations, and communicate complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders to advance Minnesota's Toward Zero Deaths vision.

Hybrid Eligible: Employees may telework up to 50%, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location and reside within the state or in a county bordering the state may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director.
Minimum Qualifications
Three* (3) years of experience in administering and coordinating state or federal grant-funded programs including providing advanced level analysis and exercising judgement in compliance, reporting, and budgeting.
Demonstrated knowledge of traffic safety principles, including federal Highway Safety Plan requirements and NHTSA guidelines.
Experience monitoring project performance, auditing budgets up to $3 million, and evaluating program objectives.
Stronginterpersonalandcommunicationskills (oralandwritten)with experience presenting to committees, legislative bodies, or advisory councils.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including qualitative and quantitative evaluation of program strategies.
Proficiencyincommonbusinesssoftwareapplications(e.g.,Word,Excel,databases,presentationtools).
Abilitytoworkcooperativelywithindividualsfromdiversebackgroundsandunderservedcommunities.
*A bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, criminal justice, public health, traffic safety, or a related field may substitute for one year of required experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor'sdegreeinpublicadministration,businessadministration,criminaljustice,publichealth,trafficsafety,orarelatedfield.
Familiarity with the Minnesota Advisory Council on Traffic Safety statute and the Toward Zero Deaths program framework.
Demonstrated skill in drafting RFPs, grants, contracts, and interagency agreements under state and federal procedures.
Experience in legislative analysis, policy development, or testifying before policy or legislative committees.
Knowledge of safe road zone measures, multidisciplinary "4 E" traffic safety strategies, and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
