Job Title: Accounting ManagerJob Description
The Accounting Manager leads the accounting department to ensure accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. This role oversees daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions, and plays a key role in the monthly close process, budget preparation, and financial analysis. The Accounting Manager also drives process improvements and financial automation initiatives while mentoring and developing a high-performing accounting team within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general ledger activities.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring adherence to close timelines and deliverables.
Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, including analysis of reserves and intercompany eliminations, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Develop and manage budgets and forecasts in collaboration with internal teams and senior leadership.
Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to accounting and financial reporting.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and growth-oriented team environment.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and addressing findings.
Drive process improvements and financial automation initiatives, including robotic process automation and AP automation.
Leverage accounting and reporting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Excel, and related tools to enhance efficiency and reporting quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within a manufacturing environment to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Communicate financial results, risks, and opportunities clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
8+ years of Accounting or Finance experience.
At least 1 year of experience managing people.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Good understanding of business processes in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with accounting and reporting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to analyze financial data and projections to support decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strategic thinking ability, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Proven experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting or finance staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and related ERP platforms.
Experience with financial automation tools, including robotic process automation and AP automation.
Familiarity with corporate performance management or consolidation tools such as OneStream.
Prior experience in a manufacturing company or similar operational environment.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements within accounting functions.
Interest in contributing to a purpose-driven organization focused on enhancing the quality and taste of food and beverage products.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, innovative culture that values creativity and continuous improvement.
Work Environment
This role is based in Wauconda, Illinois within the Accounting department and follows a hybrid work arrangement. The Accounting Manager works onsite three days per week, with an expectation of being onsite more frequently during the first few weeks for onboarding and integration with the team. Typical start times range between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., with a latest regular start time of 9:00 a.m. The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, supporting a leading international supplier of value-added flavors and ingredients to the global food and beverage industry. The team leverages modern accounting and reporting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Excel, and is actively engaged in financial automation initiatives. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $66.00/hr.
