H2C seeks an Engineer who will be responsible to act as the Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead (EDL) covering electrical/I&C/HAC in the Engineering Standards Group. This position will provide subject matter expertise using extensive knowledge of codes and applicable standards. Excellent communication skills are needed, with the ability to effectively influence practitioners across the Integrated Tank Disposition Contract (IDTC) in the disciplined conduct of their specific subject matter.
The Engineer's duties and responsibilities include the following:
Provide expertise in the electrical and I&C engineering disciplines, with particular emphasis on NEC codes
Maintain responsibilities as the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, and Hazardous Area Classifications Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Represent ITDC and make authoritative discipline-specific technical recommendations
Establish and maintain relationships with Department of Energy (DOE), external SMEs and the supply chain and augment in-house subject matter experts when required to deliver within the ITDC scope
Develop, implement, maintain, assess and interpret assigned discipline-specific processes, procedures and standards to be applied to ITDC engineering work
Keep current with and assess changes to DOE, national, and industry consensus codes and standards applicable to their discipline and as assigned
Provide discipline design and technical reviews of new designs, major facility modifications, and other technical documents as required by procedures and as requested
Interpret discipline-specific design and technical basis information to support operations and project delivery
Maintain technical competence and stay current with modern standards, tools and methodologies relevant to their respective discipline
Support operations and project delivery in the identification of appropriate discipline-specific design input and engineering processes, procedures and standards to be used for the delivery of engineering work
Sponsor and/or lead discipline-specific process improvement initiatives
Communicate, train, and advise the organization on discipline-specific technical requirements and issues
Assist and mentor engineers in preparation and review of technical documents and calculations
Promote and facilitate best practice and the sharing of discipline-specific learning across the ITDC
Apply an extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in assignments and related work
Perform routine administrative duties (weekly input TIS, staff meetings, routine training)
Assist engineering managers in closing Corrective Actions and DOE/DNFSB findings.
Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represent the department in conferences to resolve important questions and coordinate work
Provide engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget
Required Qualifications
Grade 20:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with:
ten (10) years experience
Grade 21:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with:
twelve (12) years experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 22:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with:
fourteen (14) years experience.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with NEC 70 article 500 Hazardous Area Classifications (classified NFPA 497, Guidance for design in potentially hazardous atmospheres
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $131,888
Hiring Range Maximum: $214,288
