Mechanical Engineer (Plano TX)
We are currently hiring for a Mechanical Engineering role, Plano, TX. This role will work closely with our internal engineering team, project manager, and external contract manufacturer to ensure our products are designed and built efficiently, consistently, and to a high standard of quality. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design skills, hands-on manufacturing experience, and the ability to work across engineering, production, and supplier teams. This person will play an important role in supporting device assembly, improving manufacturability, resolving production issues, and assisting with design updates as products move through development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing and Design to support the design, manufacturing, assembly, and production readiness of devices.
Work directly with our contract manufacturer to support device assembly, production readiness, and manufacturing activities.
Review assembly processes and identify opportunities to improve build efficiency, repeatability, quality, and ease of assembly.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues that arise during manufacturing, assembly, testing, or product builds.
Support pilot builds, production builds, design verification builds, and manufacturing transfer activities.
Assist with the development and improvement of assembly instructions, work instructions, fixtures, tooling, and production documentation.
Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve part quality, fit, tolerance, and manufacturability issues.
Support the evaluation of production feedback and recommend practical design or process adjustments .
Support mechanical design updates for existing and new devices.
Create and modify CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials. Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles to improve product design and production efficiency.
Assist with tolerance analysis, material selection, component evaluation, and mechanical design reviews.
Support proto@type development, testing, iteration, and documentation.
Evaluate design changes for impact on manufacturability, cost, quality, and assembly.
Assist with engineering change orders, part releases, and documentation updates.
Assist the project manager by providing engineering input, technical updates, and status on manufacturing and design-related tasks.
Help track open engineering, manufacturing, and supplier-related action items. Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and the contract manufacturer to support timely resolution of technical issues.
Communicate risks, blockers, and recommendations related to mechanical design, assembly, and manufacturing.
Support production readiness reviews, build planning, and design transfer activities as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, manufacturing engineering, or assembly support for physical products.
Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
Experience creating and maintaining mechanical drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and tolerance callouts.
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, plastics, adhesives, fasteners, or mechanical assembly.
Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues that arise during prototyping, manufacturing, assembly, or product testing.
Strong hands-on problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to support multiple technical tasks and priorities.
