Momentive Performance Materials USA, LLC seeks an Advanced Scientist in Friendly, WV Responsibilities Include: Development and customer technical service for new silicone additives, emphasizing the flexible slabstock foam application area. Define and conduct required laboratory programs to synthesize and test new additives for specific polyurethane (PU) formulations with improved performance. Utilize his expertise to invent, develop, and apply new additives using statistical design of experiments. Design and develop new products, formulations, and test protocols supporting the PU Slab segment. Manage multiple simultaneous projects, with the ability to communicate laboratory activities and market needs back to the business through customer interactions. Planning and executing laboratory projects spanning from defining customer needs to assisting with the scale-up and commercialization of the new additives for the polyurethane foam market. Planning, organizing, and controlling lab activities according to local regulations. Implementing Project Management discipline as a Technology owner of new product design introduction (NPDI) projects. Ensure the timely progression of allocated NPDI projects and define actions to correct when deviations versus plans occur. Contributing to product launches through efficient customer relationship build-up, smooth interfacing with internal functions, and providing support to generate the required product documentation. Executing and delivering technical solutions to develop new products in close customer interaction (VOC voice of customers). Providing technical support to customers for specific territories and polyurethane segments; achieving product qualification for customers of new products developed and contributing to qualification at customers to ensure their efficient internal implementation. Creating IP relevant for the business - preparing invention disclosures for selective innovations. Providing support to establish new quality tests and methods when required to strengthen the portfolio. Supporting production and qualification of alternative suppliers for strategic raw materials when relevant. Representing Momentive at technical events with outside parties (conferences, seminars, exhibitions). Qualifications: The following are required for the role. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or foreign equivalent in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, or a related field and one (1) year of experience as an Advanced Scientist or a related research scientist role. In lieu of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, will accept a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, or a related field and four (4) years of experience as an Advanced Scientist or in a related research scientist role. Special Requirements: Experience with: Product design focusing on polyurethane foam and thermal conductive products; polymeric science, synthesis, and characterization of polymers; Intellectual property knowledge and implementation; and Analytical techniques, including SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, DLS, nanoindentation, nanoscratch, microfluidics, electrophoresis, electrospinning, tensile strength, IR and reflectance spectroscopy, and thermal imaging.
