We are currently seeking a talented NDT Quality Technician 2 to join our team on the 1st shift at our Winsted facility. The NDP Quality Technician 2 is responsible for the testing and inspection of products at various stages of production process in compliance with applicable codes and standards. At Millerbernd, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our products.

Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $28.05 - 33.00 per hour (non-exempt)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
As a NDT Quality Technician 2, you will:
Preferred candidates will be certified to Level 2 qualifications in accordance with the American Society of Nondestructive Testing recommended practice SNT-TC-1A in methods such as VT, MT, UT, PT and AWS CWI
Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered
Welding background preferred - Must take and pass practical examinations as condition of employment
Follow standard work
Determine test equipment settings according to @type of metal, thickness, distance from test equipment, and related variables, using standard formulas
Set up equipment to perform tests, and conduct tests on parts, following procedures established for specified tests performed
Apply agents, such as cleaners, penetrants, and developers, and couplant to parts.
Conduct visual, penetrant, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle tests on metal parts to determine if parts meet nondestructive specifications
Mark tested parts to indicate conforming and defective areas
Interpret and evaluate test results against designated standards, utilizing knowledge of metals and testing experience in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
Prepare reports outlining findings and conclusions.
Initiate accept/reject decisions and know when to call more qualified individuals for marginal evaluations.
Assist in monitoring and auditing of existing weld procedures.
Ensures proper fit-up and in process weld quality
Inspect and calibrate test equipment; document dates and results
Document non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, processes, or results.
Collaborate with other NDT personnel and provide on-the-job training and guidance as needed.
Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE. Promptly report all injuries and unsafe conditions.
Regular and on-time attendance for full scheduled work shift.
Maintain a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
Maintains 5S guidelines
Communicate relevant information and concerns positively and effectively to others in timely manner
Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
Role Qualifications as a NDT Quality Technician 2:
Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of completing assigned work
Perform routine welding equipment maintenance
Enter job data in production tracking system
Seek and perform alternate, productive tasks to keep busy during unexpected down time
Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required
Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematic diagrams and welding symbols
Experience interpreting codes, standards, and specifications to designate and apply examinations methods, techniques, and procedures to be used; and to verify the adequacy of procedures
Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and shop floor control, applications
Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines
Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
Ability to electronically record production information
Effective and appropriate oral communication skills including legible handwriting in English
Work with others as part of a high performance team
Adapt to changing work priorities
Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures
Follow standard MMC and customer specified welding procedures and practices
Accept and apply on the job training to advance your skill level
Remain positive in challenging work environments
Physical Demands (Production Roles):
This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
