Responsibilities Maintains an equipment maintenance database that covers a wide range of complex equipment with various maintenance needs, including robotics, programmable logic controllers, automated guided vehicles, and materials handling equipment (MHE). Opens work orders for preventative and unscheduled maintenance, enters completed work orders, and ensures that work orders are completed properly. Schedules internal work requests based on workflow, command interest, skills, materials, and trades required to accomplish the requests; accounts for safety of personnel and equipment. Adjusts work maintenance schedules to ensure productivity and account for available labor, critical equipment downtime, parts availability, internal work requests, and preventative maintenance backlog. Utilizes knowledge of shop equipment, tools, and operating equipment maintenance practices to make recommendations to shop supervisors, increase shop productivity, and correct problems that arise. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a Production Controller (Mechanical) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Planning and scheduling maintenance for a work shop, work site, or multiple work sites; Inputting data to monitor utilization and optimal use of equipment; and Analyzing the effectiveness of a maintenance program in order to make changes and suggest improvements B. Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions cover by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to work of the position.
