The Academic Success and Retention Program Coordinator supports SUNY Oneonta's institutional commitment to student success, persistence, and degree completion by engaging directly with students and coordinating initiatives aligned with the university's Academic Momentum campus plan and retention strategy. Working collaboratively with campus partners, this role supports a coordinated, student-centered approach to improving student outcomes through outreach, early alert engagement, tracking student progress, and contributing to the implementation and continuous improvement of student success initiatives across the institution.
Located within the Office of Academic Success and Achievement (OASA), this role works directly with students, particularly through early alert outreach, to identify barriers to success and connect them with appropriate academic and support resources. The Program Coordinator also supports institution-wide student success initiatives through outreach, engagement, tracking, and collaboration with campus partners. This position uses insights from student engagement and program outcomes to inform ongoing efforts related to academic momentum, advising, early alerts, and student engagement, contributing to a coordinated, student-centered approach to improving student outcomes.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Early Alert Outreach and Student Engagement
Conducting targeted outreach to students identified through early alert notifications and meeting individually with students to assess academic, personal, or situational challenges affecting their progress.
Developing and supporting implementation of action plans that connect students with appropriate academic and support resources.
Monitoring student engagement with recommended services and providing follow-up as needed to support persistence and academic progress.
Engaging effectively with students and providing appropriate guidance and referrals.
Identifying recurring challenges and barriers and sharing observations with OASA staff and campus partners.
??Support for Student Success Initiatives
Supporting student-facing efforts connected to the university's Academic Momentum campusplan and retention initiatives.
Assisting with outreach and engagement efforts related to academic momentum, early alerts,student support utilization, and student engagement initiatives.
Supporting implementation of institutional programming such as Grow-Thrive-Live (GTL)Days, onboarding initiatives, and related student success activities.
Sharing feedback and observations from student interactions to inform ongoing student success efforts.
Data Tracking and Reporting
Utilizing institutional systems (e.g., Navigate, dashboards, reports) to track student engagementand monitor intervention activity.
Maintaining accurate documentation related to student success outreach and engagementefforts.
Running basic reports and contributing to summaries and updates related to student successinitiatives.
Identifying patterns and trends in student engagement data to support evaluation and improvement efforts.
Assessment Support
Collaborating with the Office of Institutional Assessment and the Office of Institutional Research to support assessment-related activities.
Assisting with the collection, organization, and documentation of assessment-related information and outcomes.
Supporting ongoing evaluation efforts by tracking participation and maintaining accurate records of student success activities.
Cross-Campus Collaboration
Collaborating with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Institutional Research, and other campus partners to support coordinated student success efforts.
Supporting communication and information-sharing across units related to student success initiatives.
Assisting with connecting students with appropriate camps resources and services.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated experience working with students in a higher education or comparable setting, including student engagement, support, or program-related activities.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Experience coordinating or supporting programs, initiatives, or projects.
Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Two or more years of experience in student success, retention, advising, or related roles in higher education.
Demonstrated experience supporting student success or retention initiatives (including internships, graduate assistantships, or professional roles).
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with students and provide appropriate guidance and referrals.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in complex or sensitive situations.
Experience using data, reports, or dashboards to support tracking or evaluation efforts.
Experience presenting or communicating information to students and/or campus groups.
Experience using student success platforms or institutional systems (e.g., Navigate or similar tools).
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
