Job Title: Warehouse Worker
Job Description
This role supports the shipping and receiving operations on 2nd shift by picking and pulling orders, operating sit-down propane forklifts to move materials, and packaging orders for shipment. You will split your time between forklift operation, manual material handling, and inventory processing, ensuring that products are accurately received, staged, and shipped in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
Pick and pull orders accurately and prepare them for shipment by securely packaging and labeling all items.
Operate sit-down propane forklifts safely to move materials to and from the packaging area, spending approximately 40% of the time on a forklift.
Perform receiving duties, including loading and unloading material from trucks using cranes and forklifts as needed.
Read and interpret purchase orders, packing lists, picking tickets, and other shipping documents to ensure accuracy in receiving and shipping processes.
Verify that received products match purchase orders and packing lists, and record receipts using a scan gun and/or computer system.
Use cranes or forklifts to place received items in designated storage areas in a safe and organized manner.
Perform trim picking by reading and interpreting picking tickets and shipping documents to select items based on customer orders.
Use a scan gun and/or computer to create bundles, relieve inventory, and maintain accurate inventory records.
Create boxes and package items according to quantity and order requirements, ensuring secure and damage-free shipment.
Stage orders by placing items in designated areas for shipment and verifying that all order components are present and correct.
Operate forklifts to move items from storage locations to staging areas as needed.
Use banding equipment and pallet wrapping machines to create secure bundles and pallets for shipment.
Lift 50-75 pounds repeatedly throughout the day while maintaining safe lifting techniques.
Stand and work on your feet for an entire 8-hour shift while performing material handling and packaging tasks.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating forklifts, cranes, banding equipment, pallet wrapping machines, and other material handling equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe shipping and receiving operations.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to operate sit-down propane forklifts safely and efficiently.
Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including unloading, loading, and staging materials.
Proficiency using RF scanners or scan guns for inventory and order processing.
Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing lists, picking tickets, and general shipping documents.
Material handling experience, including lifting 50-75 pounds and handling various @types of products throughout the day.
Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift while performing physical tasks.
Basic computer skills to input and retrieve data related to inventory, receipts, and shipments.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking, receiving, and inventory control.
Commitment to following safety procedures when operating forklifts, cranes, and other equipment.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Prior forklift experience required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating additional @types of forklifts such as stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse environment in manufacturing or metal-related industries.
Comfort using banding equipment and pallet wrapping machines to secure loads.
Ability to work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to cross-train in other departments or on additional machines to support broader operations.
