This Senior Process Engineer role offers an opportunity to elevate the maturity, discipline, and strategic direction of the Process Engineering function within a manufacturing environment. You will provide experienced leadership to a junior team, strengthen core engineering practices, and serve as a seasoned problem-solver who drives proactive, high-value operational improvements. The position focuses on supporting daily operations while leading strategic initiatives that enhance cost, quality, yield, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process issues, resolving production challenges, and guiding updates to process documentation.
Drive strategic, high-impact process improvements that enhance cost efficiency, product quality, yield, and throughput across the manufacturing lines.
Manage capital projects by developing and justifying business cases, making sound spending decisions, and overseeing project execution from concept through implementation.
Lead root cause investigations for process and equipment issues and implement robust, long-term corrective and preventive actions.
Develop and maintain process maps, control plans, FMEAs, standardized work instructions, and other process control tools to ensure consistent and reliable operations.
Plan, execute, and oversee cross-functional projects, balancing real-time line support with longer-term project work to meet operational and strategic objectives.
Evaluate equipment, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
Support new product introductions by assessing manufacturability, defining process requirements, and leading process scale-up activities.
Create clear, data-driven technical reports, analyses, and project updates to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders.
Provide leadership and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and technicians, helping to build a more mature and disciplined Process Engineering function.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Polymer Engineering.
10+ years of experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role, with flexibility to consider slightly less tenure based on the relevance and depth of experience.
Demonstrated experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering environment, supporting production operations and driving process improvements.
Previous leadership or supervision experience, either through managing direct reports or leading project teams.
Experience projecting capital equipment needs and developing strategic timelines for capital expenditures.
Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives.
Proven process improvement experience focused on cost, quality, yield, and throughput in a manufacturing setting.
Experience with capital equipment planning, justification, and implementation within a manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and act on data to drive decisions and improvements.
Experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering roles that involve cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to meet requirements for U.S. export control regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience developing process maps, control plans, FMEAs, and standardized work tools to support robust process control.
Background in leadership development, including mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical teams.
Exposure to strategic planning within a manufacturing or engineering @context, including long-term process and capacity planning.
Experience supporting new product manufacturability assessments and process scale-up activities.
Ability to evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Strong written communication skills for preparing technical reports, analyses, and project updates for diverse audiences.
Comfort working in cross-functional teams, including R&D, Operations, and Engineering, to deliver shared outcomes.
Work Environment
This role operates in a dynamic manufacturing environment with approximately 70% of the time spent on the manufacturing floor and 30% in an office setting. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, including R&D, Operations, and Engineering, and maintain frequent interaction with technicians on the production floor. The position serves as the primary point of contact for a designated area of the manufacturing floor, providing day-to-day support while also owning specific projects from initiation through completion. The environment emphasizes collaboration, hands-on problem-solving, and continuous improvement, with regular engagement in both real-time production support and strategic project work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $55.29/hr.
