Job Description:
The Director will be a senior member of the Software Equity Research team, responsible for helping drive the research franchise through differentiated investment insights, industry expertise, client engagement, and thought leadership. Experience in sell side research, buy side investing, investment banking, consulting, or relevant industry roles is required. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, capital markets, and software industry dynamics, along with a passion for investing and the stock market.
The Director will work closely with Senior Analysts while taking a leadership role in the research process, contributing to investment recommendations, developing client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and helping expand the firm's research franchise. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Lead the development of differentiated investment ideas and actionable research for institutional investor clients
Author industry reports, thematic research, earnings analyses, and company initiation reports
Build, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and valuation frameworks
Develop deep expertise in cybersecurity and identify emerging industry trends, competitive dynamics, and secular growth opportunities
Establish and maintain relationships with executives, investor relations teams, industry experts, channel partners, and other key industry contacts
Generate proprietary research through surveys, channel checks, interviews, field work, and alternative data sources
Communicate investment views effectively through written research, client meetings, conferences, roadshows, and conference calls
Serve as a trusted resource for institutional investors, sales professionals, and trading teams
Monitor company, industry, and macroeconomic developments, providing timely analysis of stock impacting events
Help shape the strategic direction of coverage and research priorities within the software sector
Mentor and develop associates and junior analysts, helping elevate the team's analytical capabilities and research output
Represent the research franchise at industry events, management meetings, and investor conferences
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, advanced degree, or relevant industry experience is a plus
Significant experience in equity research, buy side investing, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, or the software industry
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and accounting expertise
Demonstrated ability to generate differentiated investment insights and communicate complex ideas clearly
Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
Strong client facing capabilities and relationship management skills.
Self motivated, intellectually curious, and passionate about financial markets
Experience mentoring and developing junior professionals is preferred
