Mechanic II

CLASS TITLE: Mechanic II

CLASS RANGE: 20

MINIMUM SALARY: $38,106.41 annually + Benefits

NATURE OF POSITION

Maintain and repair parish vehicles and heavy construction equipment.

Keep vehicles in proper working condition by completing preventative maintenance schedules.

Repair and replace parts and assemblies such as drive trains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brakes, steering, and hydraulics.

Overhaul, rebuild, replace, and update parts as necessary.

Ensure vehicles meet all state and federal requirements.

Train entry-level Mechanics.

Maintain records of services, repairs, and inventory.

COMPETENCIES/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Possess proven ability to learn and improve skills.

Able to tolerate outdoor conditions and various @types of weather.

Able to stoop, kneel, balance, climb for tasks, and raise/lower objects up to 100 lbs.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent with formal training.

Five (5) years of related experience.

Valid Louisiana Class B CDL.

Must be available for recall to work after normal working hours due to emergencies.
