Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions:
Advise students in the Forensics undergraduate degree program in areas of study and course scheduling to support completion of degree requirements; maintain comprehensive digital records of advising activities in Raider Success Hub.
Advise undergraduate students in the department's two minors in Forensic Science and Environmental Toxicology in their areas of study and course scheduling to support completion of minor requirements; maintain comprehensive digital records of advising activities in Raider Success Hub.
Represent the program at advising events and orientations, including Red Raider Orientation, Transfer Days, and other activities for current or prospective students, following program protocols.
Conduct regular meetings with students to monitor progress toward degree completion. Maintain accurate and up-to-date advising records using TTU systems and provide periodic reports and analysis as needed. Proactively connect students to appropriate campus and community resources to
support their academic success and personal development and overall well being.
Work collaboratively as a successful and respectful team member in fulfilling all job functions.
Attend training classes and meetings for advisors
Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental operations and administrative functions.

About the Department and/or College:
The Department of Environmental Toxicology at Texas Tech (http:// www.depts.ttu.edu/entx/ ) offers a Master of Science degree in the following tracks: Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Investigation, and Environmental Toxicology, as well as a doctoral degree in Environmental Toxicology. The department will launch a new Bachelors of Science in Forensic Science in fall 2026. This department currently has 19 full-time tenured, tenure-track and professor of practice faculty and approximately 60 graduate students. In recent years, faculty from this department have been awarded over 5 million dollars in externally sponsored research, of which more than 70% were from federal sources. The department occupies several buildings to support research and teaching, affording significant laboratory and classroom space. Departmental research programs include campus, community, and national/international collaborations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to provide academic advising services to undergraduate and/or graduate students, including degree planning, course selection, and academic support resources. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with a multi-faceted student population. Proficiency in using institutional systems and student information platforms to track academic progress and maintain accurate records. Ability to interpret and apply academic policies and procedures with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
Experience using student information systems such as Banner, DegreeWorks, or similar platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Experience in advising or mentoring students in a higher education setting. Familiarity with institutional policies and procedures related to academic advising, registration, and student retention.
Hourly Pay Range:
$16.39 - $21.30 -$26.25
