JOB REQUIREMENTS: MISSION Performs light electrical and mechanical assembly of scientific laboratory equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Reads and follows written instruction on proper assembly of sub-assemblies and final product -Uses wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and both mechanical and wiring samples as part of assembly instruction documentation -Uses small hand tools to perform light mechanical assembly -Operates electrical and pneumatic hand tools -Verifies and documents conformance to specification of assemblies and final products -Performs some minor testing of sub-assemblies per assembly procedure -Confers with engineers and supervisory personnel to resolve assembly problems -Uses soldering irons and small hand tools for making electrical connections -Other duties as assigned ** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION -High school degree or equivalent WORK EXPERIENCE -2 years of experience in electrical mechanical assembly SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE -Familiarity with identification of electronic components, wire, and hardware -Ability to read and understand mechanical/electronic drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials -Proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly, including wire stripping, crimping, soldering, plumbing, sheet metal, and machine part assembly -Self-inspects work throughout the assembly process and escalates any issues or concerns -Proficient oral and written communication skills -Familiar with safety and ESD requirements -Familiar with ISO 9001 procedures and work instructions -Customer focused and meets all quality, quantity, and established manufacturing practices to satisfy customer requirements -Previous experience working with small, precision, mechanical or optical assemblies. -Proficient with basic computer operation. Prefer experience with Microsoft Office computer applications PHYSICAL ABILITY -Ability to distinguish colors -Good manual dexterity for handling and assembling small parts -Ability to lift 40 lbs.
