Job Title: 2nd Shift Mill Machinist
Job Description
An Aerospace manufacturing company is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist with hands-on experience with Aluminum alloys, copper alloys (including Beryllium Copper), Stainless Steel, High Heat-Treat materials, Titanium, Lightweight Composites, and Phenolics and Plastics. The Machinist II is responsible for setting up and operating advanced CNC machinery to produce aerospace components to exacting standards. This position requires the ability to hold extremely tight tolerances, perform in-process inspections, and work with exotic aerospace materials in compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Operate Dual Pallet (4-axis) machining centers and Multi-Tasking turning centers (Mazak, Okuma).
Use dial indicators for machine setup and on-machine inspection of forgings.
Work with tolerances as tight as ±.0001" in various turning applications.
Optimize CNC programs to ensure consistent and accurate part production.
Document tooling and machine setup after FA approval for repeatability.
Complete required inspection reports and maintain accurate records.
Identify, report, and document defects or quality concerns; escalate issues to supervisors or quality engineers.
Perform preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating optimally.
Act as a subject matter expert and assist in training co-workers as assigned.
Machine aerospace materials including 300M, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys.
Interpret and work from blueprints, GD&T, and military specifications to produce conforming parts.
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools and gauges.
Follow AS9100 QMS requirements, shop practices, and traveler instructions; sign off job travelers upon completion of entire batches.
Ensure traceability of parts, including serial number identification and documentation.
Handle aerospace components with care to avoid damage; maintain inspection areas clean, organized, and free of FOD.
Maintain accurate physical and electronic documentation in compliance with AS9100 standards.
Inspect own work and ensure parts meet required quality and tolerance specifications.
Support production deadlines by maintaining efficiency and flexibility in work tasks.
Participate in cross-functional tasks and support other departments as needed.
Promote and maintain a safe work environment, complying with company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineering, quality, and peers to resolve issues.
Advise Production Supervisor of equipment maintenance needs.
Contribute to a team-oriented environment while also working independently when necessary.
Essential Skills
Minimum 10+ years of experience operating and setting up Mill/Turn machines (e.g., Integrex, WFL) and multi-axis CNC Mills (5-7 axis).
Proficiency in CNC machining (turning, multi-axis milling, and multitasking centers).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and military/aerospace specifications.
Skilled in using precision inspection equipment (dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
Strong understanding of tight tolerance machining (±.0001").
Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management System and aerospace shop practices.
Knowledge of working with exotic aerospace materials (Ti, 300M, stainless steel, high-temp alloys).
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to document processes, maintain traceability, and comply with quality system requirements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment characterized by high noise levels and dust. Prolonged sitting, climbing, balancing, and physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
