Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on designing, optimizing, and overseeing manufacturing processes for electrical and electronic components, wiring harnesses, and integrated systems. You will develop and refine manufacturing and assembly procedures, support engineering changes, and drive continuous improvement to enhance producibility and quality. The position offers hands-on involvement with cutting-edge aerospace hardware, including performance and functional testing, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe production.
Responsibilities
Design, optimize, and oversee manufacturing processes for electrical and electronic components, wiring harnesses, and integrated systems.
Develop, draft, review, and contribute to detailed manufacturing and assembly procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
Inspect hardware, test equipment, and related tools to verify conformance with specifications and manufacturing standards.
Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing optimized manufacturing processes that enhance quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Support the incorporation of Engineering Changes (ECs) into manufacturing processes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to production.
Execute performance and functional testing of systems, including work with pressurized gas systems and purified water systems, in accordance with safety and quality standards.
Perform repair and maintenance activities that involve hazardous materials, including adhesives, lubricants, and solvents, following appropriate safety procedures.
Create and update work instructions that align with assembly drawings, process specifications, and required certifications.
Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and electronic systems to ensure they meet design specifications and safety requirements.
Review plans, inspect fabrications, conduct investigations, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with aerospace requirements, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
Generate manufacturing bills of materials upon release of engineering drawings to support accurate planning and production.
Work closely with the Production Planning team to ensure production cycle milestones are met from product design through assembly and installation.
Act as the primary interface between Design Engineering and Production to ensure Design for Excellence (DfX) principles are integrated into products, reducing Cost of Non-Conformance.
Collaborate regularly with customers, technicians, engineers, logistics teams, and bond room personnel to support day-to-day operations and resolve manufacturing issues.
Contribute to project management activities related to manufacturing process development, validation, and implementation.
Essential Skills
6-9+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, preferably working with electrical and electronic components and systems.
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
Strong manufacturing engineering background with hands-on experience in process engineering and manufacturing process optimization.
Demonstrated experience in process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives within a production environment.
Proficiency in developing and authoring technical work instructions, including assembly and installation procedures.
Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D and PDM modeling software or similar computer-aided design tools.
Ability to drive producibility improvements using Design for Excellence (DfX) principles, including manufacturing, integration, and assembly considerations.
Experience conducting design reviews and managing configuration control processes to maintain product integrity.
Knowledge of validation practices for manufacturing processes and equipment.
Strong project management skills to coordinate manufacturing activities, timelines, and deliverables.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with engineering, production, and cross-functional teams.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in aerospace or similarly regulated industries with established requirements, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
Familiarity with generating and managing manufacturing bills of materials from engineering drawings.
Ability to interpret assembly drawings, process specifications, and certification requirements and translate them into clear work instructions.
Experience supporting installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and electronic systems.
Investigating fabrication issues and providing corrective and preventive action recommendations.
Comfort working with hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricants, and solvents while following appropriate safety protocols.
Experience working with pressurized gas systems and purified water systems during testing and commissioning.
Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between Design Engineering and Production teams.
Interest in and enthusiasm for contributing to advanced aerospace manufacturing initiatives, including next-generation space systems.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
