Job Description
This Medical Assistant position combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to support providers in delivering high-quality primary care. You will help patients feel comfortable, gather essential health information, assist during examinations and procedures, and ensure accurate documentation and follow-up. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with patients and providers in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinic environment and is interested in an opportunity that can lead to a permanent position.
Responsibilities
Escort patients to exam rooms and notify the provider when the patient is ready.
Ensure all laboratory and diagnostic test results are available and filed in the chart prior to the appointment.
Ensure all exam rooms remain appropriately stocked, organized, and clean.
Conduct the initial patient intake, including documenting the reason for visit, symptoms, and obtaining vital signs such as weight, height, blood pressure, and temperature.
Verify current medications, contact information, and medical allergies at each visit.
Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring they understand the process and feel at ease.
Assist the provider during examinations and procedures as needed.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens according to established procedures.
Instruct patients on medications, special diets, and other provider-directed care instructions.
Prepare and administer medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections, as directed by the physician or other licensed provider.
Administer vaccinations and immunizations as directed by the provider.
Administer nebulizer treatments and assist the provider with other clinical procedures and tasks.
Transmit prescription refills as directed by the provider.
Order and help maintain adequate inventory of medical, laboratory, and office supplies.
Follow up on diagnostic results, medications, blood work, and other ordered tests, and communicate results or instructions to patients as directed.
Perform basic wound care as directed by the provider.
Use computer applications and electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and patient care activities.
Update, maintain, and file patient medical records accurately and in a timely manner.
Support patient care over the phone, including answering questions, gathering information, and relaying provider instructions when appropriate.
Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, and nebulizer treatments when needed, in accordance with training and clinic protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Medical Assistant certification, registration, or diploma strongly preferred.
High school diploma.
Medical Assistant certification, registration, or completion of a Medical Assistant diploma program preferred.
Approximately 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant (less experience considered for candidates with a strong work ethic).
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain CPR certification.
Experience using Athena EMR preferred, with willingness to train candidates new to the system.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel strongly preferred.
Experience with reporting, documentation, and administrative duties preferred.
Experience performing EKGs, administering injections, and providing nebulizer treatments preferred.
Experience assisting patients by phone strongly preferred.
Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability.
Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team and 1:1 with a provider.
Comfort working in a high-volume primary care environment.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in a primary care clinic located in Boca Raton. You will work as part of a collaborative care team and will also work closely 1:1 with a physician or other provider. The clinic is high-volume, with each provider typically seeing 12-16 patients per day, creating a fast-paced but structured environment. You will use computer applications and an electronic medical record system, with Athena EMR experience considered a plus. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The clinic emphasizes a professional, patient-focused atmosphere where Medical Assistants play a key role in both clinical support and administrative efficiency, and the role offers the opportunity to transition to a permanent position.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deerfield Beach, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
