The Administrative Assistant provides reliable, detail-oriented support to daily office operations in a smaller, collaborative environment. This role combines general clerical work, customer interaction, and light payroll assistance to help keep the office running smoothly and ensure accurate, timely completion of administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Provide general administrative and clerical support to the office team.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls while assisting customers with inquiries in a professional manner.
Coordinate and manage basic scheduling, appointments, and calendar updates for staff.
Assist with processing payroll and help maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
Prepare, organize, and maintain documents, files, and reports in both physical and digital formats.
Support email correspondence and internal communication to ensure information flows smoothly across the team.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, for daily tasks, documentation, and reporting.
Perform accurate data entry, tracking, and maintenance of office systems and records.
Maintain a professional, organized, and tidy office environment.
Support additional administrative tasks and special projects as needed to assist the team.
Interact regularly with internal staff and customers, providing dependable, proactive support.
Complete administrative and payroll-related tasks accurately and on time.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of administrative, clerical, or customer service experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced office environment.
Professional demeanor and dependable work ethic.
Comfort working in a smaller, collaborative office setting.
Ability to provide courteous and effective customer service over the phone and in person.
Comfort with data entry and maintaining accurate records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using customer portals or similar online customer systems.
Experience assisting with payroll processing or payroll-related tasks.
Prior experience in a construction, service, or field-based environment.
Demonstrated ability to work hands-on and support a variety of office needs.
Proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting team members.
Work Environment
This role is based fully onsite in a smaller office environment with a close-knit, collaborative team. The position is hands-on and involves consistent interaction with internal staff and customers, both in person and over the phone. The office operates in a fast-paced setting where accurate, timely administrative and payroll support is essential. You will work primarily with standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office applications, while helping maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southfield, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
