Join the highly professional and team-oriented Auditor-Controller's office and direct divisions vital to recording financial transactions that meet government accounting standards to produce accurate financial statements for the County of Nevada. This management-level opportunity utilizes extensive technical knowledge in exercising independent judgment and decision-making. This key role develops and implements division and department goals and furthers County objectives. Other key proficiencies include:
Planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff
Providing for the training and professional development of staff
Principles of general, fund and government accounting, auditing, and budgeting
Principles of both internal and external audits
Applicable county, state and federal guidelines and laws
Principles of business data processing, particularly related to the processing of accounting information
Establishing and maintaining internal controls
Preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports and other written correspondence
Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations and policies relating to Auditor-Controller functions
Analyzing complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and making sound judgments and recommendations
A Managing Accountant-Auditor is an integral part of the Auditor-Controller's team! This position is crafted for individuals who have minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Also, three years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience is required with at least one year of supervisory experience directing professional or technical staff.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Master?s in accounting or related field may substitute for bachelor?s in unrelated field.

Experience:
Three years of journey-level or above professional accounting and/or auditing experience, including at least one year involving supervising or directing the work of professional and/or technical staff.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
