Job Title: Accountant

Responsibilities

Track and manage litigation accounting activities, including settlement funds, insurance proceeds, subrogation payments, and litigation-related expenses.

Maintain, reconcile, and document trust and IOLTA accounts in full compliance with Texas State Bar rules.

Prepare and issue case billing for litigation matters, including contingency-based reconciliation and cost recovery.

Perform general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close.

Support payroll processes by providing accurate accounting data and reconciliations.

Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including litigation-specific insights and analyses for leadership and attorneys.

Track property tax-related items such as filing fees, appeal costs, and client reimbursements.

Support real estate closing activities by preparing trust request retainers, invoicing hourly billing, and performing case reconciliation.

Assist with compliance activities, including internal audits, trust audits, and preparation of regulatory documentation.

Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Protect sensitive financial and client information by maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring data accuracy.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance management.

2-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in legal, insurance, or real estate environments.

Strong understanding of trust accounting, settlement fund management, and litigation-related financial workflows.

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.

Experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Demonstrated ability to perform month-end close and prepare financial reports.

Proficiency with legal billing software.

High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Comfort working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
