Job Title: DrafterJob Description
This role focuses on creating and updating mechanical engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The drafter will convert and update existing component drawings from AutoCAD into SolidWorks, ensuring accurate, production-ready documentation that supports complex mechanical and electrical systems, including amusement ride machinery.
Responsibilities
Create detailed mechanical engineering drawings and models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for production and manufacturing.
Update existing component drawings by converting them from AutoCAD into SolidWorks while maintaining accuracy and design intent.
Develop and revise mechanical and electrical system drawings, including control systems, power distribution, and motor control layouts.
Prepare clear, precise CAD documentation that supports structural, mechanical, and electrical designs.
Incorporate design standards related to steel construction, welding, fasteners, machining, bearings, wheels, and conveyance systems into drawings.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure drawings meet functional, safety, and manufacturing requirements for amusement ride machinery.
Review, interpret, and implement design changes and engineering feedback in a timely manner.
Ensure all drawings and models follow established drafting standards, file management practices, and version control.
Support production and manufacturing teams by providing updated drawings and resolving drawing-related questions or issues.
Work efficiently in an expedited environment, managing multiple drawing updates and design tasks to meet project deadlines.
Essential Skills
Minimum 3+ years of experience in mechanical or structural design.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and updating engineering drawings.
Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and detailed mechanical design.
Strong drafting and CAD skills, including dimensioning, tolerancing, and drawing standards.
Experience creating mechanical and electrical system drawings.
Knowledge of control systems, power distribution, and electrical systems.
Understanding of motors and motor control systems.
Familiarity with pneumatics and related mechanical components.
Ability to translate existing AutoCAD drawings into SolidWorks models and drawings accurately.
Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, production-ready documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with amusement ride machinery and related mechanical systems.
Knowledge of steel construction practices and standards.
Understanding of welding processes and how they impact design and fabrication.
Familiarity with fasteners, machining practices, and mechanical assembly methods.
Knowledge of bearings, wheels, and conveyance systems used in mechanical equipment.
Ability to work closely with engineering and production teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex mechanical and electrical designs.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The role supports large-scale amusement park industry projects and involves working in a professional engineering and production-focused environment that relies heavily on SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD tools. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex mechanical and electrical systems and to collaborate closely with engineers and technical staff in a structured, project-driven setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
