Technical Solutions Architect (Access/VBA)
Job Description
We are seeking a Technical Solutions Architect who specializes in Microsoft Access and VBA to design, proto@type, and architect the core data structures and workflow logic for a multi-module Methane compliance platform. This role focuses on hands-on Access development, including database schema design, form and report architecture, workflow automation, and functional prototyping to guide downstream software development.
Responsibilities
Architect relational database structures, queries, and workflow logic in Microsoft Access to support Methane compliance requirements.
Develop functional proto@types, wireframes, forms, subforms, and reports to define system behavior and user interactions.
Build and refine VBA modules, class modules, automation routines, and validation logic to demonstrate intended system functionality.
Translate regulatory and business requirements into technical specifications, data models, and workflow diagrams.
Produce blueprint packages that guide external developers in implementing production-grade modules.
Ensure Access-based proto@types align with long-term scalability, data integrity, and integration needs.
Essential Skills
Expert-level Microsoft Access experience, including database design, complex queries, forms/subforms, reports, and proto@type development.
Advanced VBA expertise, including ADO/DAO, class modules, automation scripts, error handling, and workflow logic.
Strong SQL skills for data manipulation, reporting, and integration with external data sources.
Ability to translate regulatory and stakeholder requirements into clear, structured technical designs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting specifications and presenting solution designs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience managing software development vendors, including scope alignment, deliverable reviews, and acceptance processes.
Background in full SDLC project management, including charters, schedules, cost estimates, and risk tracking.
Familiarity with GIS data integration (shapefiles, geodatabases, spatial queries) and alignment between spatial and relational data.
Experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL (stored procedures, indexing, schema review).
Python or other scripting experience for ETL, automated testing, or validation of vendor deliverables.
Understanding of APIs, REST services, and JSON/XML data formats.
Experience linking Access with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
Knowledge of Power BI or similar tools for dashboard prototyping.
PMP, Agile, or Scrum certification.
Experience with earned value management or quantitative cost/schedule tracking.
Strong requirements engineering skills and familiarity with structured review/approval workflows.
Knowledge of contract structures (fixed price, T&M, hybrid).
Work Environment
This is a part-time position within a software development environment focused on Methane compliance. The role requires a technical expert capable of working independently while collaborating with external development partners. The candidate will engage in detailed database and proto@type development using Microsoft Access and VBA, ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable for future integration needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
