Job Description

Seeking a skilled welder to join our growing construction team. This welder will be responsible for fabricating, joining, and repairing metal components on construction and industrial job sites. This role supports structural, piping, and equipment installation by performing high-quality welds that meet safety and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Inspect and repair handrails, catwalks, guard rails, platforms, staircases, and similar structural components.

Run metal saws and cut a variety of metal materials to specified lengths.

Operate overhead cranes to move and position structural steel and other heavy materials safely.

Operate forklifts to transport materials and equipment around job sites and fabrication areas.

Perform welding and fabrication on proto@type and repair projects using appropriate welding processes.

Support new construction projects by assisting iron crews with onsite welding and structural connections.

Obtain required work permits before onsite work and adhere to all permit conditions.

Fit and assemble metal parts from proto@type prints through to finished projects, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up.

Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions, materials, and fabrication requirements.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

2+ years of welding and/or construction experience.

Proficiency in MIG welding for structural and fabrication projects.

Hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication, including fitting and assembly.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and drawings to fabrication and installation work.

Experience in construction or structural steel work, including iron work and metal framing.

Work Environment

You will work on-site at various industrial facilities and commercial locations, including loading docks at grocery stores, where you will repair guard rails and similar structural elements. The work involves both shop and field environments, with frequent use of welding equipment, metal saws, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Projects often take place in active industrial areas and loading docks, requiring awareness of moving vehicles, materials handling equipment, and other site operations. Expect a hands-on, physically active role in a construction and structural steel setting, with appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment required to meet safety and site standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bay City, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
