Information Technology Services (ITS), currently has an opening for an IT Architect II - Cloud Solutions Architect position in our Chinden office in Boise. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Cloud Solutions Architect to help accelerate our cloud strategy and drive cloud modernization initiatives across the enterprise. They will work directly alongside agency stakeholders and technical teams to assess current environments, design and proto@type cloud solutions, lead migrations, and translate cloud architecture decisions into working implementations, while communicating progress and recommendations to a broad range of stakeholders.
The selected individual must be able to work independently to assess and analyze business and technical requirements to develop complex systems, model business outcomes into technical solutions, evaluate and recommend enterprise-level business and technical solutions and establish new ones, develop and communicate technical implementation plans, direct teams that are implementing business or technology projects, create business processes, technical documents, and executive-level documents, and participate in strategic planning activities; perform related work.
Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.
Example of Duties:
Assess current-state infrastructure, applications, and workloads hands-on to develop cloud migration and modernization strategies;
Design, proto@type, and validate cloud architecture patterns, reference architectures, and migration blueprints through proof-of-concept builds;
Configure and deploy cloud services, infrastructure, and automation pipelines as part of migration and modernization efforts;
Evaluate and recommend cloud platforms, services, and architectural patterns, validating recommendations through hands-on testing;
Develop and implement cloud governance, security guardrails, and cost-optimization controls;
Create cloud architecture documents, runbooks, technical guides, and executive presentations;
Work alongside and technically mentor teams executing cloud migration, modernization, and cloud-native development projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
Current trends in information technology. Typically gained by an associate degree or equivalent college level/vocational-tech coursework directly related to current information technology trends OR at least two years of work experience in information technology. Education and experience must be within the last five years.
Computer hardware and software capabilities and limitations. Typically gained by at least two years of work experience in the information technology field working with multiple technologies OR an equivalent combination of classroom training that covered multiple technologies and work experience in the information technology field working with multiple technologies. Education and experience must be within the last five years.
Experience:
Performing solution architect duties which include interpreting desired business outcomes into technical solutions. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience performing solution architect duties which included interpreting desired business outcomes into technical solutions within the last five years.
Using architectural modeling tools to develop conceptual, logical, and physical models. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience using architectural modeling tools to develop conceptual, logical, and physical models within the last five years.
Maintaining architecture artifacts within a repository. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience maintaining architecture artifacts within a repository.
Writing technical documents. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience writing technical documents.
Leading technical teams involved in implementing technology projects. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience leading technical teams involved in implementing technology projects.
In technical infrastructure, implementing, trouble shooting, integrating network servers, database, system administration, and core technologies. Typically gained by at least three years of work experience in technical infrastructure, implementing, troubleshooting, integrating network servers, database, system administration, and core technologies within the last five years.
