Responsibilities If selected for this position you will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) Middle District of Georgia. The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations. Typical duties include: Performing essential "IT Manager" tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO IT systems. These duties include a wide range of information technology support technology to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities. IT Systems/Network Administration: Maintaining district-wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format. Ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency. Systems Security: Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Internet: Planning, designing, developing, testing, implementing and managing internet, intranet, and extranet activities, including technical management of websites. Litigation Support Services: Supporting litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs. Performing such services directly or in conjunction with the district's Legal Administrative Specialists. Customer Support: Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must demonstrate possession of each of the following basic competencies AND at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in Federal Service, as defined below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. GS-12: To be qualified at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in Federal service maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, and switches; monitoring network capacity and performance; analyzing network traffic patterns and installing network software fixes, upgrades, and enhancements; resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; designing, developing, testing, implementing, and managing internet and intranet websites; implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data; implementing programs to ensure users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures; and assessing and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements and providing recommendations to resolve cited problems.
