Job Title: 1st Shift Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The 1st Shift Maintenance Technician performs preventive and reactive maintenance on flavoring production machinery and facility equipment in a clean, GMP-regulated food processing environment. This role works closely with a team of maintenance mechanics and specialists to keep dry blend, spraying, reactor, extractor, and compounding machines operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment as outlined in company manuals and maintenance schedules.
Troubleshoot and repair production equipment using strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, referencing printed repair manuals and schematics.
Work on flavoring machinery including dry blend, spraying, reactor, extractor, and compounding equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production.
Assist in installing and replacing production equipment as needed to support operational demands.
Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe workplace and maintenance shop at all times.
Maintain the building and grounds of the facility to the standards established by leadership.
Adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements for the operational area, including lockout/tagout procedures in a food processing environment.
Work in compliance with GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SSOP, and safety guidelines applicable to a food manufacturing facility.
Maintain accurate inventory of tools and ensure equipment and tools are in good working condition.
Diagnose and repair issues involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including 3-phase motors and voltages up to 480V.
Support HVAC-related maintenance within the food processing facility as required.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail to support product quality and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks efficiently.
Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by leadership.
Work a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed based on production demands.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems in an industrial setting.
Experience working safely with electrical systems up to 480 volts.
Experience working on single-phase and 3-phase motors.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics.
Proficiency in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
Ability to follow GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SSOP, and safety guidelines in a regulated environment.
Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures within a food or manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience repairing forklifts is a plus.
Experience repairing cherry pickers or similar material handling equipment is a plus.
Previous experience in the food or flavors industry is highly beneficial.
Experience working in a HACCP-certified facility is an advantage.
Additional electrical maintenance experience beyond the minimum requirements is a plus.
Experience working with HVAC systems in a manufacturing or food processing environment is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role is based in a GMP-regulated food manufacturing facility that specializes in flavoring production. The environment is very clean and organized, with a strong emphasis on food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The maintenance team currently consists of approximately eight members, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. The position follows a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime that may vary depending on production needs. Work involves both mechanical and electrical tasks, roughly split between the two, including work on 3-phase motors, equipment operating at up to 480 volts, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and HVAC equipment. All work is performed under GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SSOP, and safety guidelines, including strict lockout/tagout procedures. The facility expects employees to maintain a neat, orderly, and professional appearance consistent with a clean, regulated food-processing environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
