HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER LEADER

Summary You will serve as a HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER LEADER in the Compliance Division of the Compliance and Quality Department, Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE). Responsibilities You will conduct on-the-job-training and overseeing team execution of inspection, collection, processing, packaging and preparing hazardous waste for temporary storage and disposal. You will inspect and stage containers using knowledge of specialized storage containers for production and facility need to hold, store, transfer or transport hazardous waste. You will operate manual and power lifting devices and motor vehicles to pick up, transport, and temporarily store industrial waste and other @types of hazardous waste. You will make independent determinations and planning for transfer of hazardous waste as required to minimize hazards entering the environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Demonstrating skill in the use of computers and utilizing HMMS software for hazardous waste transactions and inventory data. 2) Utilizing detailed knowledge of the methods, procedures and regulations required to collect, package, and temporarily store hazardous wastes in accordance with local instruction FRCSEINST 5090.3. 3) Using independent judgement for waste identification, label correction, packaging, containment, storage, transfer, and shipment of hazardous waste in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations and agency requirements. 4) Incorporating knowledge of chemical characteristics of FRCSE hazardous waste streams to ensure safe processing and containment. 5) Overseeing team execution in the containment, treatment, and clean-up operations resulting from hazardous spills.
