As the Office and Data Entry Specialist, you will serve as a key operational partner by managing sensitive patient and billing data, conducting quality assurance reviews, resolving complex data discrepancies, and supporting providers, clinics, and program participants with professionalism and care.
Primary responsibilities include:
Perform complex problem-solving and systematic review of patient data to ensure the integrity of Sage Program records.
Execute high-volume data entry and rigorous quality control for the Cancer Programs Section.
Provide essential administrative support to the Sage Programs and Cancer Control Sections to ensure seamless daily operations.
In accordance with HR/LR Policy #1422 Telework, this position is eligible for up to 50% telework for applicants who live in Minnesota or in a bordering state within 50 miles of the assigned work location. Candidates residing outside of Minnesota or in a bordering state not within 50 miles of the assigned work location at the time of application must be able to relocate to Minnesota within 30 days of their start date. The telework policy may exempt employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in-office requirement, depending on job requirements, helping the State of Minnesota access top talent across the state.
MDH relies heavily on grant funding, in addition to state appropriated dollars. As an agency, we continually monitor funding levels and navigate some degree of uncertainty related to grant cycles and the impact of the grant funding on program priorities.
This position is currently funded and approved to be filled. While the position is funded at this time, future funding is dependent on the continuation of our funding sources. The Minnesota Department of Health works proactively to sustain programs and maintain our workforce, to avoid reductions in force to the very best of our ability. In the event of a loss of funding resulting in a necessary workforce reduction, that process is governed by our collective bargaining agreements and compensation plans.
Minimum Qualifications
Administrative office experience which includes, but is not limited to, handling a variety of business correspondences, recordkeeping, data management, or similar responsibilities.
Knowledge of Data entry procedures and systems, such as Microsoft Office or similar data entry systems.
Customer service experience over the phone and in person with the ability to advise customers around policies, procedures, and regulations.
Minimum qualifications to be assessed at interview:
Strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely when providing services and helping others.
Ability to review, research, and finalize records.
Detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of administrative or technical experience working with medical, public health, or patient screening data in a healthcare, clinic, hospital, or government setting.
Experience performing quality control, records auditing, or data validation activities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Familiarity with Minnesota state agency operations or similar organizational structures.
Proficiency using computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, Windows, and technical licensing or credentialing database applications.
Experience with accounting/budgeting/expense reporting with the ability to perform administrative support work for a work unit'sexpense and budget administration.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a seated position for extended periods of time.
Occasional movement of packages, boxes of files, in an office environment.
