Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor II - Boca Raton, FL.
The Academic Advisor II supports student-athletes by providing comprehensive academic advising and coordinating academic support services in alignment with NCAA, conference, and institutional requirements. This role partners closely with coaches, faculty, and campus stakeholders to promote eligibility, academic progress, and timely graduation while fostering personal accountability and career readiness. The Advisor also serves as a liaison between the Student-Athlete Success Center and academic departments to advance student success initiatives.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Director or an Associate Director of the Student-Athlete Success Center, a division of Undergraduate Studies.
Responsible for developing and programming academic support for student-athletes participating within several teams.
Assist student-athletes with understanding and meeting academic eligibility guidelines based on NCAA, C-USA/AAC, and FAU requirements. They will provide excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with athletics business partners, coaches, administrators, student-athletes, parents, faculty, and staff. This role has to apply NCAA standards to determine continuing eligibility status and provide guidance related to the consequences of enrollment decisions. This role develops and assists with providing academic support for student-athletes. The Academic Advisor II acts as the liaison between the SASC and the other academic departments on campus.
Develops innovative improvements to resources and processes to assist students and advisors in course selection, career development, and personal accountability for success.
Provides oversight to Academic Mentors and graduate assistants. Initiates new programming for student resource indicators to assist in skill development, time management, and academic progress reporting.
Demonstrates mastery of advising knowledge, models expertise in advising practice, and shows depth in professional engagement.
Assists with the development and implementation of student-athlete recruiting services from various teams.
Monitors student academic plans to ensure timely graduation using advising and student development theories, institutional data, and research findings.
Develops innovative improvements to resources and processes to assist students and advisors in course selection, career development, and personal accountability for success.
Provides leadership in the professional development of advisors, maintenance of degree audit system, orientation, graduation, and student retention initiatives.
Leads professional development events and activities at the unit or campus level.
Will have some responsibilities with Student-Athlete Development (SADV) such as partnerships with Career Center, Owls Care, CAPS, and athletic external operations to create a holistic student experience which may include workshops, presentations, and events that prepare students for their careers after graduation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with academic eligibility guidelines based on NCAA, C-USA/AAC.
Experience with student database software and degree audit software.
Salary:
$58,000 annually.
