THE POSITION
The Electrical Engineer Consultant position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers an exciting chance to support essential public safety work. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Electrical Engineer Consultant plays a key role in supporting construction, maintenance, and operational needs across correctional facilities. This position applies professional engineering knowledge to evaluate systems, develop solutions, and support safe and effective operations. As a Electrical Engineer Consultant, you will perform the following duties:
Design Preparation: Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and drawings that follow codes and sound practices
Project Surveys: Conduct site surveys, gather project data, and prepare reports with observations and cost estimates
Cross-Team Coordination: Coordinate project work with internal staff, design professionals, and code officials
Technical Review: Review drawings, specifications, and submittals and provide clear recommendations
Problem Resolution: Develop solutions to engineering issues involving design, construction, maintenance, or operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment. 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week after the initial 6-month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
Employees with the required certification or license may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment at the time of hire and each time the certification or license is renewed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years as an Electrical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
Four years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
Conditions of Employment:
You must be in possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
