Key Responsibilities: - Lead mechanical design - Drive the mechanical design and development of helmets, hard parts, and related accessories from concept through production. - Develop detailed CAD models - Create robust 3D CAD models and assemblies that clearly communicate product function, design intent, and manufacturability. - Apply DFM/DFA principles - Ensure designs support high-quality, cost-effective production across a range of manufacturing processes. - Proto@type and validate concepts - Build and test proto@types using 3D printing, CNC machining, thermoforming, silicone molding, resin casting, and other shop tools to evaluate performance and feasibility. - Design and execute test protocols - Create and run testing procedures using custom fixtures, sensors, and data-acquisition tools to verify product performance. - Perform engineering analysis - Conduct material selection, mechanical loading, fatigue analysis, and tolerance studies to ensure reliability and durability. - Iterate using test data - Use test results and field feedback to evaluate, refine, and improve designs prior to launch. - Coordinate with suppliers - Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support a smooth transition from development into mass production. - Collaborate cross-functionally - Partner with industrial design, product management, sourcing, factory engineering, and other internal teams to align on performance targets, timelines, and brand goals. - Manage multiple projects - Balance hands-on engineering work, documentation, planning, and communication while driving several projects forward simultaneously.
