Nammo Perry is a center of excellence for the design, development and production of munitions and pyrotechnic products for the U.S. Department of Defense. Nammo employees working at the Florida site manufacture all @types of 40mm low and high velocity ammunition; pyrotechnic marking; signaling and tactical illumination devices; battlefield effects training simulators; demolition charges; hand grenade fuzes; and other ammunition components. Additionally, they provide load, assemble, and pack (LAP) services for large caliber direct-fire ammunition.
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) is responsible for driving continuous process improvement in the manufacturing process to improve first pass yield, reduce the Cost of Poor Quality, and address timely quality discrepancies and countermeasures to minimize any impact on delivery commitments. The MQE will collaborate with their Program Team in assessing, developing and executing process improvement initiatives and operational enhancement programs that deliver strategic value and profitable growth for their program and the business.

What You'll Do: Precision in Action
Coordinate all quality activities in manufacturing and works collaboratively with Customer Quality Engineering to ensure the flow-down and compliance with customer contractual requirements
Works with Production Supervisor, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineer, Program Manager and other disciplines to ensure the quality of the product
Investigate internal and external quality concerns, and lead cross functional teams to determine root cause, and implement permanent corrective actions
Inspect and review lot manufacturing and quality records completeness and correctness
Analyze work instructions and procedures for errors and potential failure points
Drives quality improvements through reducing variation with process controls, implementing clear quality defect criteria, generating clear and accurate manufacturing work instructions, performing effective training, and introduction of creative and innovative human error elimination tools.
Works with Supplier Quality Engineering in the effective resolution of supplier quality defects affecting manufacturing first pass yield
Works with Manufacturing Engineering in the optimization of manufacturing processes (including automation), in-process and final quality inspection methods to reduce ergonomic safety risks for manufacturing and quality control employees
Supports Engineering during both the development cycle and product introduction phase for various defense and military related products
Ensures the execution of customer product quality plans and compliance to customer specifications
Establishes trends, Pareto's, and analyzes manufacturing quality data to help drive continuous improvement activities by utilizing team-oriented problem-solving methods
Actively participates in Visual Daily Management and drives quality countermeasures for timely resolution of quality discrepancies
Conducts frequent process spot audits, and drives and coordinates rapid response with manufacturing, and quality control supervisors and leads, manufacturing engineering and workforce employees as necessary
Ensures the manufacturing activities are performed in compliance with the Quality Management System requirements
Builds a quality library of defects, containment and corrective actions and lessons learned
Prepares and communicates quality alerts to heighten employee awareness towards internal or external quality concerns

BS Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials) or similarStrong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, and sound judgement coupled with effective decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience as a Quality Engineer in the Defense Industry working in ordnance and use of energetic materials, powders/propellants.
Experience with measurement equipment such as optical comparators and CMM's
Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9000 quality management systems, corrective and preventative action, CDRLs. NDT, MIL-STD-1916, and MIL-STD-1168
Six Sigma Green belt certification or higher
Experience with statistical analysis software such as Minitab
Experience with PFMEAs, PLVs and SPC
ASQ Certification, CQE/Quality Auditor
