Accounting Manager (CPG Industry) - RemoteOverview

We are seeking an ownership-driven Accounting Manager with strong Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience to lead day-to-day accounting operations in a high-growth environment.

This role is ideal for a Senior Accountant ready to step into leadership who brings hands-on experience navigating the complexities of CPG or retail channels-including deductions, trade spend, inventory, and supply chain dynamics.

You will take full ownership of the month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and audit readiness, ensuring accurate, timely, and scalable financial operations while helping the business continue to grow.

Key ResponsibilitiesClose & Financial Accuracy

Lead and own the month-end close process (target: Day 5)

Review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for accuracy and completeness

Maintain a clean, well-supported general ledger

Ensure balance sheet integrity, including timely reconciliations (Day 8-10)

CPG Accounting & Operational Oversight

Manage accounting for inventory, trade spend, and customer deductions

Partner with Operations and Sales to ensure accurate accounting across retail and distribution channels

Support accounting for outsourced order-to-cash models (3PL, co-manufacturing)

Bring expertise in handling CPG-specific financial nuances and complexities

Audit & Internal Controls

Lead audit preparation and PBC coordination

Partner with the Controller on audit execution and technical matters

Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation

Team Leadership & Development

Supervise and review work of accounting team members

Provide coaching, feedback, and accountability

Foster a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement

Systems & Process Improvement

Support ERP transformation (Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Business Central)

Identify and implement process improvements to scale operations

Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing

Payroll Oversight

Oversee payroll processing and compliance

Manage adjustments including bonuses, commissions, and reimbursements

Partner with HR to ensure accurate employee data and reporting

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

5-8+ years of accounting experience, including CPG, retail, or manufacturing environments (required)

Hands-on experience with CPG accounting complexities (inventory, trade spend, deductions strongly required)

2-3 years of supervisory or team lead experience

Ownership of month-end close and general ledger accounting

Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting

Experience with reconciliations, audit support, and financial reporting

Preferred

Experience in PE-backed or mid-sized companies

ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central)

CPA or CMA (nice to have, not required)

Experience with 3PL, co-manufacturing, or outsourced accounting models

Advanced Excel skills (Power Query a plus)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
