Job Title: Certifying Scientist

Department: Clinical Laboratory

Location: Horsham, PA

Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM

SUMMARY:

The Certifying Scientist performs testing and analysis in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. Additional responsibilities for Training, thorough understanding of Analyst Software manipulation and advanced instrument troubleshooting and maintenance. This position is also responsible for the review of work performed by other staff, and the ancillary tasks ensuring customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform Regulated, Non-Regulated, and Forensic sample preparation procedures, including dilutions and extractions. Proficient in analysis and capable of training others.

Perform Regulated, Non-Regulated, and Forensic testing

Advanced Analyst Data Review following SOP

Advanced MTQ date review

Ascent knowledge

Interpretation of Drug/Metabolite

Advanced LIMS knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot IT issues

Reporting includes but is not limited to: performing calculations that produce an accurate test result, documentation and evaluation of quality control data, chain of custody documentation- review, certification, and release of final test results, NLCP inspection and NLCP PT's.

QC and QA Documentation and notification

Final report of patient samples (LC/MSMS/ GCMS

Set up testing instrumentation for specific tests and analysis, providing proper preventative maintenance according to prescribed schedules.

Knowledgeable of instrumentation for purposes of training and capable of performing advanced instrument maintenance and advanced troubleshooting.

Procure and maintain test equipment and basic method/extraction advanced troubleshooting to perform required product analysis and testing.

Prepares work lists using LIMS and job assignments for Laboratory Scientist I and II personnel.

Participate in quality control activities throughout the laboratory to assure that accurate results are reported by reviewing final reports and collecting all data necessary for routine quality control functions and tests.

Capable of troubleshooting QC failures and implementing error correction training to staff.Train new employees on methods and techniques necessary to complete assigned work.

Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper handling procedures of samples, cleanliness, and neatness at the workstation and within the testing facility and observance of appropriate personal protective equipment procedures.

Order supplies according to inventory control program.

Responsible for workflow and TAT of routine analysis, including patient samples and samples for quality assessment (e.g. Proficiency Testing).

Creation of SOP documents as assigned.

Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in One of the Natural Sciences or Medical Technology. Master's Degree Preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

4 years of laboratory experience preferred

2 years of Chromatography analysis experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
