About this Job
This position serves as an Accountant 1-3 in the Traditional Accounting section of the Executive Division of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). The incumbent is responsible for performing a wide range of professional accounting duties, including financial reporting, bank reconciliations, monitoring project expenditures, managing fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulations, and supporting daily accounting operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Monitors accounts daily for deposits and wire transactions
Ensures accounts receivable checks are deposited within 24 hours of receipt
Reviews classifications for appropriate documentation, approvals and revenue coding
Reconciles bank account monthly
Prepares various reports including monthly status reports, monthly cash receipts reports, weekly unclassified deposits, monthly bank reconciliation reports, and quarterly account reports
Manages CPRA's fixed assets in the LaGov System
Monitors and reconciles multi-source funded project expenditures, ensure regulatory compliance, collaborate with project managers on budgets, and prepare financial reports using LaGov and Excel
Ensures compliance with financial procedures, policies, and guidelines
Participates in meetings, conferences, and professional development trainings to maintain current knowledge of federal guidelines, state regulations, and industry best practices

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment*
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Accountant 1, Accountant 2, or Accountant 3 depending on level of experience.

Compensation: The maximum salary for the Accountant 3 is $96,533 annually.
There are special bi-weekly entrance rates established for this position:
Accountant 1 $1,730.40
Accountant 2 $1,851.20
Accountant 3 $2,120.00
*If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may later be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
