Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description
This role focuses on designing and developing electrical schematics and PCB assemblies for manufacturing test fixtures and validation systems. You will own the complete hardware bring-up process, from component selection and layout review through assembly, debugging, and deployment into production environments. The position combines hands-on hardware design, test fixture development, automated test software creation, and support for manufacturing and contract manufacturers.
Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical schematics and PCBAs for manufacturing test fixtures and validation systems.
Own end-to-end hardware bring-up, including component selection, layout reviews, soldering and rework, and board-level debugging.
Build and integrate test fixtures incorporating power distribution, relays, multiplexers, signal conditioning, and measurement systems.
Develop and maintain automated test software, preferably in Python, to control instruments and execute test sequences.
Perform in-depth electrical debugging at the board and system level using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, power analyzers, and related test equipment.
Support deployment to manufacturing, including troubleshooting issues at contract manufacturer sites, improving yield, and resolving production failures.
Analyze test data and failure trends to identify root causes and drive design improvements and enhanced test coverage.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure test solutions meet product, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
Document designs, test procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines to support ongoing production and future design iterations.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
4-7 years of hands-on experience in hardware design and test engineering.
Strong expertise in schematic design and PCBA development using Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
Proven experience with board bring-up, including soldering, rework, and hardware debugging at the component and signal level.
Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including AC and DC power circuits, signal integrity, and noise considerations.
Hands-on experience with test instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
Experience designing and building test fixtures that involve relays, multiplexers, data acquisition systems, and interface boards.
Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for test automation and instrument control.
Experience supporting manufacturing environments and working with contract manufacturers.
Familiarity with common communication protocols, including CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
Ability to perform detailed data analysis on test results and failure trends to support root-cause investigation and corrective actions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with PCB layout and schematic capture from concept through production release.
Background in electronics test methods and best practices for validation and manufacturing test.
Familiarity with data logging tools, databases, or systems for storing and analyzing test results.
Experience with embedded systems, sensors, or motor control systems.
Strong circuit design skills for both analog and digital domains, including power distribution and protection.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, test, and manufacturing teams.
Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently on complex hardware issues.
Work Environment
You will work in a hands-on engineering and lab environment that combines electronic design, test development, and manufacturing support. The role involves regular use of test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and logic analyzers, as well as EDA tools like Altium Designer or equivalent for schematic and PCB design. You will frequently handle PCB assemblies for bring-up, soldering, rework, and debugging, and you will develop and run automated test scripts, primarily in Python, to control instruments and collect data. Collaboration with manufacturing and contract manufacturer sites is an integral part of the job, including remote support and potential on-site troubleshooting in production environments. The position typically follows standard engineering working hours, with flexibility as needed to support critical builds, production issues, or test milestones in a professional, technology-driven setting.
