This role involves applying quality engineering principles to production processes to ensure quality standards are consistently implemented and maintained throughout the manufacturing process. The position supports design and implementation changes to improve productivity and profitability of existing production procedures and provides ongoing support throughout the manufacturing life cycle. The role also serves as a technical resource for process technology used in production methodology and explores new methods.
Responsibilities
Support the design, installation, and evaluation of quality assurance systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
Take a support role in designing or specifying inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment to analyze production and service processes and standards.
Evaluate manufacturing processes to ensure optimal labor and material costs, increasing productivity and profitability.
Track expenditures to ensure they remain within budgeted amounts.
Identify, reduce, and eliminate worker exposure to ergonomic stresses in the workplace.
Provide timely product and process support for any manufacturing area to diagnose and implement solutions to minimize interruptions to production.
Engage as a team member in significant cross-functional projects to improve product, process, customer, supplier, and quality-related issues.
Engage with the Technical Engineering Team Leader to identify root causes and develop corrective actions, including potential process or quality assurance changes.
Research and introduce/integrate new processes, equipment, and technologies into the company.
Essential Skills
Effectively apply quality engineering technical principles, concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.
Strong analysis skills in process, capacity, cost/benefit, waste stream, and quality tools.
Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including flow, PQ, equipment reliability, and setup reduction.
Develop technical solutions to a variety of complex problems with minimal support.
Apply creative solutions to improve practices and procedures with minimal support.
Inform decisions in matters of significance to a positive customer experience with minimal support.
Understanding of productivity improvement techniques, such as RCI's.
Interface and interact with multiple functions within the company and with next-level leaders in management.
Project management skills with cross-functional teams and basic facilitation skills.
Complete financial comparisons for production process changes, including ROI with minimal support.
Understanding and application of work measurement/time studies for process/performance improvement with minimal support.
Provide technical support on projects within assigned areas/value stream.
Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; programming is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Basic understanding of design, specification, purchase, and installation of new equipment.
Awareness of material handling solutions to support efficient flow within production areas.
Understanding of simulation, process modeling, and value stream mapping.
Understanding of occupational biomechanics/human factors engineering.
Understanding of product testing requirements, product development cycle, and special processes.
Ability to interface with other segments of the order fulfillment process with minimal support.
Support efforts for tracking and acting upon metrics for actionable SQDC-related improvements.
Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing and general office environment, providing daily support in production areas.

This is a Contract position based out of Athens, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.67/hr.
