Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) partnering with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is seeking DevOps Software Engineers to join a collaborative, high-impact team supporting critical applications and services. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies. All applicants will be considered for each vacancy.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of application development and DevOps-designing, building, and maintaining applications and automation pipelines that support reliable, secure, and scalable systems. You'll help implement and advance DevOps practices across teams, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern development frameworks.
This position plays a key role in improving how software is developed, tested, and deployed by building shared tools, promoting consistent practices, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across multiple applications and development teams. You'll also provide technical guidance to other developers and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality solutions.

The positions will require employees to be onsite at 444 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT-related experience in application development, DevOps engineering, software engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience must include:
Designing, developing, or supporting applications using modern programming languages or frameworks (e.g., Java or similar).
Developing, implementing, or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar).Supporting or implementing automated testing practices (e.g., unit, integration, API, or UI testing).
Collaborating with technical teams to design solutions, resolve issues, and improve system performance or reliability.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
A customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with cloud-based technologies or cloud-native application development.
Experience building or maintaining automated testing frameworks or tools.
Experience working in an Agile or DevOps environment.
Experience with version control and code management tools (e.g., Git, IBM ELM, or similar).
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing or implementing shared DevOps tools, pipelines, or automation solutions used across multiple applications or teams.
Experience establishing or promoting development, DevOps, or testing standards and best practices across a team or organization.
Experience troubleshooting complex issues across development, testing, and deployment environments.
