Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service (FPS), Springfield, Virginia. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to support the Federal Protective Service by analyzing, testing, and enhancing IT systems to ensure they meet mission, operational, and business requirements. The position provides technical support in systems analysis, test and evaluation, performance assessment, cybersecurity testing, and coordination with stakeholders to improve system effectiveness, security, and reliability. Duties performed: Manages and supports test and evaluation planning and execution for FPS IT capital asset acquisition programs, including development and review of test plans, reports, documentation, and related artifacts. Analyzes IT system performance, testing results, operational trends, and program metrics to assess compliance with requirements, identify deficiencies, and recommend improvements to system design, performance, supportability, and risk posture. Consults with system owners, program managers, product managers, and customers to refine functional requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications for system development, integration, testing, and implementation. Supports systems and software engineering activities across the acquisition lifecycle and Systems Engineering Life Cycle, including requirements analysis, user acceptance testing, systems integration, security reviews, implementation documentation, and operational readiness activities. Coordinates with cross-functional Integrated Project Teams and program stakeholders to support IT program execution, identify and mitigate programmatic and cybersecurity-related risks, communicate program status, and ensure alignment with schedule, technical, cost, and risk baselines.
