Summary About the Position: This is a developmental position. At the full performance level, you will serve as Branch cartographic expert and hardware/software system expert in the field of advanced bathymetric data collection using state-of-the-art Multi-beam/Channel Sweep data collection systems. Responsibilities Demonstrate state-of-the-art Multi-beam channel sweep bathymetric data collection techniques on board the Survey Vessel Chasteen as necessary to enhance requesting districts' knowledge of the field of Multi-beam data collection. Ensure that study data is edited and interpreted correctly and assists in the preparation of necessary conclusions and recommendations critical for product completion. Assist agency personnel in preparing hydrographic survey data with respect to the field of Multi-beam/Channel Sweep data collection. Meet with technical representatives of other Corps districts and other federal agencies and advises on the efficient, appropriate and cost-effective uses of Multi-beam/Channel Sweep technology. Interact with the client and technical experts in the field of bathymetry to assure that technology is applied in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to produce expected results. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is a developmental position in Engineering & Construction Division, Hydraulics & Hydrology Branch and may be filled at the GS-09, GS-10, or GS-11. If selected at the GS-09 or GS-10 level, the target level for this assignment is a GS-11. The grade level selected will be based upon your qualifications and responses to the questionnaire. Assignments at the GS-09/10 level will become progressively more difficult and will be under closer than normal supervision until the full performance level is reached.
