Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to provide compassionate medical assistance in a busy pediatric neurology department. The Medical Assistant supports both front and back office functions, ensures smooth patient flow through eight exam rooms, and delivers high-quality care to pediatric patients and their families. Responsibilities
Work in a pediatric neurology clinic and provide care and support to pediatric patients and their families.
Float between front and back office responsibilities to support overall clinic operations.
Perform patient check-in, including verifying patient information and preparing for the visit.
Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, and ensure patients are ready for the provider.
Conduct clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, completing phlebotomy, and verifying medications as needed.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
Prepare for office hours by obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and setting up exam rooms and equipment.
Obtain reports and records, organize patient charts, and ensure documentation is accurate and complete in the electronic medical record system.
Direct patient flow through eight exam rooms to help manage a volume of approximately 30-50 patients per day.
Assist with patient check-out, including follow-up scheduling and providing any necessary instructions or documentation.
Collaborate closely with a team of Medical Assistants and clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of the clinical office.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues, demonstrating empathy and patience.
Demonstrate reliability by maintaining consistent attendance and being available when scheduled.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
Current Medical Assistant certification.
Experience working with pediatric patients, ideally in a pediatric or pediatric specialty setting.
Experience using EPIC electronic medical records (strongly preferred).
Proficiency in patient care tasks, including obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and conducting phlebotomy.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Ability to manage both front and back office responsibilities in a clinical setting.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated reliability and strong attendance history.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment seeing 30-50 patients per day.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Comfort working with pediatric neurology patients and their families.
Ability to build rapport and work well with a long-tenured team and a variety of personalities.
Strong organizational skills to manage charts, reports, records, and patient flow efficiently.
Experience with EMR systems, particularly EPIC, for documentation and scheduling.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy clinical environment.
A calm, easygoing demeanor that supports a positive and collaborative team culture.
Work Environment
This position is based in a pediatric neurology clinic that operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The clinic includes eight exam rooms supported by a team of three Medical Assistants and sees approximately 30-50 patients per day. The environment is fast-paced yet team-oriented, with a long-established staff that values collaboration, clear communication, and reliability. You will work extensively with electronic medical records, including EPIC, and standard clinical equipment for vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy. Professional clinical attire is expected to maintain a respectful and reassuring atmosphere for pediatric patients and their families.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
