Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a collaborative finance team in Washington, District of Columbia on a contract basis with the potential to become permanent. This role supports core accounting operations by managing receivable and payable activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping prepare materials tied to reporting deadlines. The position is well suited for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hybrid work environment with a flexible start time.

Responsibilities:

Manage daily accounts receivable activity, including reviewing transaction details and completing regular reconciliations to maintain accuracy.

Process accounts payable invoices efficiently, with added support during peak volume periods from October through February.

Enter financial data into accounting systems with a high level of precision and consistency.

Assist in coordinating and organizing financial statement preparation schedules to support timely reporting.

Provide documentation and reconciliation support for upcoming audit activities, particularly in the accounts receivable area.

Work closely with a small on-site team to keep accounting operations running smoothly in a hybrid setting.

Help maintain orderly records and supporting materials related to annual financial activities and recurring accounting deadlines. Requirements - Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Ability to perform account reconciliations accurately and on a routine basis.

Familiarity with general accounting tasks and financial data entry.

Experience using Bill.com in support of invoice or payment processing.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Comfort working on-site in Washington, District of Columbia within a hybrid work model.

Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a small accounting team.
